tutorial: frame capture using VLC Media Player (VIDEOLAN)
This is for VLC Media Player version 0.8.4a
First you need to set the directory to which your captured frames will be stored. In the VLC media player, select
SETTINGS - PREFERENCES - VIDEO. Click BROWSE next to Video Snapshot Directory and navigate to the folder you want to store your captured frames.
Now start playing the video file you want to frame capture. Pause the video at any desired point. Select VIDEO - SNAPSHOT. The frame capture you just made will now be located in the subdirectory you indicated in step 1.
test it:
Check that directory to see if the snapshot is there. If it isn't, close VLC and reopen and try another snapshot. The directory specified above must exist, so if you typed in the location, it needs to be exact.
